Senior Associate - UnBox Communications Management

Job Purpose and Description

As the Communication Manager you will lead the marketing, outreach, and development of all communication material for our UnBox platform as a core member of the various event and festival teams. Equally important is to work with the platform’s diverse team to constantly enhance the quality and creativity of UnBox’s manifold communication assets (publications, presentations, print collaterals, social media channels, films etc) that evolve from event to event and need to represent the culturally and visually rich nature of our efforts to keep UnBox eclectic and dynamic. (add something about leading on PR and press engagement)You’ll need to have a keen understanding of emerging communication trends and platforms, as well as visual design aesthetics and approaches, and articulate them effectively and in a time-sensitive manner.

A successful Communication Manager will be able to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to bring the various topics and interests UnBox explores to life and share them with the diverse audience that the platform inspires and engages with, including audiences, patrons, press, and sponsors. The ideal candidate has broad experience in communication strategy, brand identity, copywriting, and creative visual storytelling, and can articulate the same across a wide range of media. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to tackle all aspects of the visual design process.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Be an enthusiastic storyteller who is excited about exploring diverse topics in the arts, culture, and design space through compelling narratives
  • Have a robust understanding of brand communications and its role in creating stakeholder buy-in and unifying communications and marketing efforts
  • Audience engagement and community building
  • PR and press/media management
  • Sponsor liaison and follow up
  • Direct creative campaigns including setting style and tone and working with a wide variety of mediums including photography, illustrations, and animations
  • Lead the design efforts of all online / digital communication material including the most often used assets such as presentations (keynotes / powerpoint), emailers, online newsletters, and publications along with the design team
  • Lead teams of specialists (illustrators, photographers, animators, etc) to bring a creative campaign to life through key visualisations (posters, campaign billboards, print ads)
  • Manage, build out, and expand the platform’s social media presence to extend its reach and relevance



Successful candidates will have extensive and diverse communications skills and experience, a strong work ethic, and a capacity for quickly assimilating and visualizing large amounts of information across manifold media channels. Some specific qualifications you would need to have are:

  • 4-7 years of work experience in marketing and communications and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a competent program in India or abroad
  • Copywriting
  • Managing press and PR activities
  • Digital strategy
  • A nuanced understanding of relevant marketing and communication disciplines: copywriting, photography, filmmaking, graphic design, etc
  • High level of skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and presentation softwares (Keynote)
  • Experience in managing internal and external interdisciplinary communications teams
  • Interest and capacity in creatively managing social media channels
  • Skills in design and development of interactive media will be an added advantage though not mandatory for this specific role
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Knowledge of any other languages (including Hindi) would be a definite plus but is not mandatory
  • Ability to think critically and have exceptional attention to detail
  • Evidence of experimentation with mediums and technologies and a body of independent creative work would be viewed very positively



The position can be based out of Delhi, India. It will also involve a chance to meet and work with consumers across the spectrum for events, as well as travel to and for workshops, labs, fellowships, and events.
